We'll all pay for the Government's folly

LET us see how the State Government tries to spin Peter Ker's article €” "Pipeline: city will not need the water" (The Age, 4/1). Melbourne has two years' supply even with zero rainfall. But the north-south pipeline will start to take water from the state's stressed rivers and long-suffering food producers this year. Will the Government announce an easing of Melbourne's 3a restrictions, claiming victory over the water crisis by its management? In reality, it has achieved nothing except a road to higher water bills for Victorians at the expense of our rivers and food security.
